An expert rebuild from Blanchard Energy is an excellent way to give your generators or engines a second life and avoid the cost of a new purchase. Our state-of-the-art generator rebuild shop in SC provides numerous services to keep your equipment on the job and performing well.
Generators have form-wound or random-wound coils called windings that help produce electricity. Rewinding the generator’s motor may become necessary to enable the motor to regain some of its lost power. The process entails replacing the old winding coils and connecting and insulating the new ones.
Rewinding is often necessary when copper windings sustain damage. In addition to replacing the windings, the job typically requires the removal and replacement of the thin layers of steel that support them.
A Megger test uses a specially designed resistance meter to assess the condition of the generator’s electrical insulation. The small, portable meter can provide a direct reading of the insulation’s current resistance level in ohms. A positive result typically falls within the megohm range.
Megger testing is often necessary due to the degradation of an electrical system over time because of factors like temperature, humidity and exposure to dust particles. The process does not damage the generator, its motor or other internal workings, as the testing device typically does not exceed 1,000 volts.
A generator rebuild is an extensive process that involves stripping out all the internal parts and components, replacing them with products that meet OEM standards and reassembling the machine. While rebuilding a generator can be expensive and time-consuming, the result is a like-new machine that performs to the manufacturer’s specifications.
Blanchard Energy offers two types of generator rebuilds:
In some cases, rebuilding the engine instead of the entire machine is enough to bring an aging model back to life. At Blanchard Energy, we can rebuild an engine on-site or at our generator rebuild shop in SC. Whether the job requires reconstructing the engine from scratch or refurbishing one or two specific components, we can ensure your engine will perform like new and provide more years of reliable service.
Our team can handle everything from minor to more extensive engine repairs. Our goal is to get your equipment on the job quickly to minimize unproductive downtime. We also take pride in fixing things correctly the first time, preventing the need for a costly and time-consuming return visit.
We can also execute an engine overhaul, a less comprehensive process than a complete rebuild. We’ll focus on replacing worn or damaged parts and components while leaving the “good” parts in place.
